I researched several Greyhound Rescue shelters in Canada before deciding to adopt my Greyhound from MGAP. MGAP surpasses anything I have ever seen for the love of greyhounds. Not only do they match these unbelievable dogs to there perfect owner but they give 100% of there time love and devotion all at no cost to do it. The owner paid for the dog how ever it doesn't even make for all the work that is place by this rescue shelter.

Excellent support and guidance.
This program is one of a kind. Not only does the program find loving homes for these retired racers, but they stay in wonderful foster homes until the "forever" family is found. They are not put in crates for months on end, they are loved and cared for and health issues are looked after.
This program is just wonderful. The people who are involved love and adore each of the gray hounds as they are delivered here to Moncton. The people are full of passion and have a heart for each and every animal that enters the shelter. Please consider the funding to go to them..... thank you

The workers really LOVE the animals. True caring is evident in all involved. To me, love is the most important thing in an animal shelter. The dogs are not given to just anybody. MGAP makes sure that you are educated and can financially take good care of your dog. I love the support and the care of this program, and so do the dogs!!
MGAP offers training for all new adopters as well as ongoing support for all greyhound owners. MGAP screens all new applicants in order to ensure that all their dogs are placed in the best possible families. They place all their dogs in waiting in foster homes with people who already have a greyhound. Greyhounds who come through this group are so lucky to have MGAP and it's volunteers who provide lots of love and care for them.

MGAP have saved so many wonderful greyhounds that would otherwise have faced an uncertain future. They are not a large organization and could rehome many more retired greyhounds with these funds.

It's like a big family. Because they don't shelter their dogs, our members foster them in their homes which makes for a much calmer dog. We take care of each other. The wealth of help and information we get from Deb Levasseur is something I treasure. Where else can you get personal help and training tips. I can't say enough good things about it. Through them I was able to receive the most beautiful little girl who has brought joy to my life and helped my older dog to rejuvenate her life. The Maritime Greyhound Adoption Program SAVES the lives of many greyhounds who would othewise be put to sleep. The program is an excellant one because Debbie and her volunteers make sure the dogs go to the best ome possible and the new owners MUST complete a training course. Also, if the dog does not wor out in the adopted home, Debbie gets the dog back and can adopt it again - hence dog does not get destroyed my new owner. KEEP UP THE GD WORK!!!!
They work so hard to bring these retired greyhounds to the Maritimes, make sure they are healthy and use foster homes so that the dogs do not have to go into cages while waiting for their forever home. No one can adopt their dogs without a four hour training course that is just wonderful and owners can get information on an ongoing basis. Deb is a constant source of advice when needed.
I think we provide the best start for our dogs in their forever homes. They go directly to their homes or into loving foster homes when they first come to Canada and everyone who interacts with them has proper training and they adore Greys.
Deb is so involved with letting new adopters know what to expect with the Greyhounds. Every dog/puppy is temperament tested and matches to persons. She ensures that every dog adopted is a "fit" for the family through at home interviews and a three hour session that is very enjoyable. I don't know how she does it but every Grey't I've met that Deb has places has a wonderful home.
While I have the opposite of a greyhound (a short-legged basset!), I have a friend who has adopted a sweet greyhound boy from this group. I heard a lot about the process while she was looking to adopt. MGAP thoroughly screened her family, provided support on getting her new friend settled in, and offered guidance and tips that even she (as a long-time dog owner) found educational. Hats off to these people who put so much effort into providing a good 'after-racing-life' for these beautiful dogs.
This organisation, MGAP, is run extremely well, and all with volunteers. All money raised goes to saving the lives of the retired racers. They are very vigilant in educating the public and the dogs new forever-homes. I have never seen an organisation so dedicated to saving so many dogs.

Maritime Greyhound Adoption Program is a First Class group of volunteers. The Program cares unconditionally, for greyhounds and the families who adopt them. MGAP educates adopters on how to effectively train their new greyhound, using only positive methods. And by providing support, the group minimizes the "growing pains" of the new pet relationship. Two enthusiastic paws up for MGAP & retired racers! It uses Positive training methods.
They bring deserving families the love of a much more deserving Grey. We have had our new member of the family for two weeks and could not be happier. The program is amazing and the support and dedication of MGAP to making the transition an easy one is UNBELIEVABLE!!! In a world with so much that could be dejecting - it is a breath of fresh air to encounter a program and people like this.

This is a wonderful organization and I have adopted a rescue Greyhound BJ and he has the most wonderful temperment and so loving, MGAP does great work very diligent finding these dogs new forever homes. The training you are given before you take your grey home as well as the continued support you receive to ensure that all is working well both for your new Best Friens and the entire family. The interview process to match the family with your new Grey is awesome, They truly care that all is in sync for a positive experience for everyone, The vitality of the MGAP gets in your blood as ny BJ has done Meet and Greet and I came along as he needed a drive but seriously this is an Excellent organization and these dogs deserve it, I only wish I could be more active, BJ is not the lucky one OUR Family is by having him in it .

This is a wonderful organization. We just adopted a greyhound, Izzy, from MGAP and she is the best thing that could have happened to us. She brings so much joy to our family. One of the best parts about this organization is that every person who adopts goes through a training program. The training program helped us to prepare for Izzy in so many ways. MGAP is a wonderful program dedicated to finding greyhounds loving, forever homes after they have retired from their racing careers. The pre-adoption education provided (including dog safety training for children) is second to none and the ongoing support, post-adoption, is remarkable. We can't say enough about MGAP! We adopted 2 Greys from them, they are wonderful boys. MGAP is always there anytime of the day if you have any questions or concerns. We are learning so much by being a part of their organization. I just adopted my third grey, & even though each of them are totally different personalities, they are perfect for our home, I don't know how MGAP does it, but what an awesome job matching greys to families. Deb, Charles and MGAP volunteers work very hard and do so much for Greyhound Adoption. The whole process, in-home interviews, free training they provide before you bring home your grey is amazing. I don't know how Deb finds the time, but she is always there if you have any questions or concerns. I wish there were more programs out there like this, as it prepares you for everything and makes the transition for both the owner and grey a wonderful experience.

I researched several Greyhound Rescue shelters in Canada before deciding to adopt my Greyhound from MGAP. In my opinion, they are the best in Eastern Canada, the greyhounds are housed in foster homes until they find their "FOREVER LOVING HOMES". They provide ongoing support to their members. MGAP surpasses anything I have ever seen for the love of greyhounds. Not only do they match these unbelievable dogs to there perfect owner but they give 100% of there time love and devotion all at no cost to do it. The owner paid for the dog how ever it doesn't even make for all the work that is place by this rescue shelter.

Excellent support and guidance.
This program is one of a kind. Not only does the program find loving homes for these retired racers, but they stay in wonderful foster homes until the "forever" family is found. They are not put in crates for months on end, they are loved and cared for and health issues are looked after.
This program is just wonderful. The people who are involved love and adore each of the gray hounds as they are delivered here to Moncton. The people are full of passion and have a heart for each and every animal that enters the shelter. Please consider the funding to go to them..... thank you

The workers really LOVE the animals. True caring is evident in all involved. To me, love is the most important thing in an animal shelter. The dogs are not given to just anybody. MGAP makes sure that you are educated and can financially take good care of your dog. I love the support and the care of this program, and so do the dogs!!
MGAP offers training for all new adopters as well as ongoing support for all greyhound owners. MGAP screens all new applicants in order to ensure that all their dogs are placed in the best possible families. They place all their dogs in waiting in foster homes with people who already have a greyhound. Greyhounds who come through this group are so lucky to have MGAP and it's volunteers who provide lots of love and care for them.

MGAP have saved so many wonderful greyhounds that would otherwise have faced an uncertain future. They are not a large organization and could rehome many more retired greyhounds with these funds.

They have built a network of adoptive families to help with the ongoing awareness that is required to continue with their success in ensuring that many more greyhounds have a chance at a great life which they so very much deserve.
It's like a big family. Because they don't shelter their dogs, our members foster them in their homes which makes for a much calmer dog. We take care of each other. The wealth of help and information we get from Deb Levasseur is something I treasure. Where else can you get personal help and training tips. I can't say enough good things about it. Maritime Greyhound brought our first grey into our lives in April of 2004 and our second sweetie in August of 2004. They are amazing and bring so much joy to our lives. Through them I was able to receive the most beautiful little girl who has brought joy to my life and helped my older dog to rejuvenate her life. The Maritime Greyhound Adoption Program SAVES the lives of many greyhounds who would othewise be put to sleep. The program is an excellant one because Debbie and her volunteers make sure the dogs go to the best ome possible and the new owners MUST complete a training course. Also, if the dog does not wor out in the adopted home, Debbie gets the dog back and can adopt it again - hence dog does not get destroyed my new owner. KEEP UP THE GD WORK!!!!
They work so hard to bring these retired greyhounds to the Maritimes, make sure they are healthy and use foster homes so that the dogs do not have to go into cages while waiting for their forever home. No one can adopt their dogs without a four hour training course that is just wonderful and owners can get information on an ongoing basis. Deb is a constant source of advice when needed.
I think we provide the best start for our dogs in their forever homes. They go directly to their homes or into loving foster homes when they first come to Canada and everyone who interacts with them has proper training and they adore Greys.
Deb is so involved with letting new adopters know what to expect with the Greyhounds. Every dog/puppy is temperament tested and matches to persons. She ensures that every dog adopted is a "fit" for the family through at home interviews and a three hour session that is very enjoyable. I don't know how she does it but every Grey't I've met that Deb has places has a wonderful home.
While I have the opposite of a greyhound (a short-legged basset!), I have a friend who has adopted a sweet greyhound boy from this group. I heard a lot about the process while she was looking to adopt. MGAP thoroughly screened her family, provided support on getting her new friend settled in, and offered guidance and tips that even she (as a long-time dog owner) found educational. Hats off to these people who put so much effort into providing a good 'after-racing-life' for these beautiful dogs.
This organisation, MGAP, is run extremely well, and all with volunteers. All money raised goes to saving the lives of the retired racers. They are very vigilant in educating the public and the dogs new forever-homes. I have never seen an organisation so dedicated to saving so many dogs.

Maritime Greyhound Adoption Program is a First Class group of volunteers. The Program cares unconditionally, for greyhounds and the families who adopt them. MGAP educates adopters on how to effectively train their new greyhound, using only positive methods. And by providing support, the group minimizes the "growing pains" of the new pet relationship. Two enthusiastic paws up for MGAP & retired racers! It uses Positive training methods.
They bring deserving families the love of a much more deserving Grey. We have had our new member of the family for two weeks and could not be happier. The program is amazing and the support and dedication of MGAP to making the transition an easy one is UNBELIEVABLE!!! In a world with so much that could be dejecting - it is a breath of fresh air to encounter a program and people like this.

This is a wonderful organization and I have adopted a rescue Greyhound BJ and he has the most wonderful temperment and so loving, MGAP does great work very diligent finding these dogs new forever homes. The training you are given before you take your grey home as well as the continued support you receive to ensure that all is working well both for your new Best Friens and the entire family. The interview process to match the family with your new Grey is awesome, They truly care that all is in sync for a positive experience for everyone, The vitality of the MGAP gets in your blood as ny BJ has done Meet and Greet and I came along as he needed a drive but seriously this is an Excellent organization and these dogs deserve it, I only wish I could be more active, BJ is not the lucky one OUR Family is by having him in it .

This is a wonderful organization. We just adopted a greyhound, Izzy, from MGAP and she is the best thing that could have happened to us. She brings so much joy to our family. One of the best parts about this organization is that every person who adopts goes through a training program. The training program helped us to prepare for Izzy in so many ways. MGAP is a wonderful program dedicated to finding greyhounds loving, forever homes after they have retired from their racing careers. The pre-adoption education provided (including dog safety training for children) is second to none and the ongoing support, post-adoption, is remarkable. We can't say enough about MGAP! We adopted 2 Greys from them, they are wonderful boys. MGAP is always there anytime of the day if you have any questions or concerns. We are learning so much by being a part of their organization. I just adopted my third grey, & even though each of them are totally different personalities, they are perfect for our home, I don't know how MGAP does it, but what an awesome job matching greys to families. Deb, Charles and MGAP volunteers work very hard and do so much for Greyhound Adoption. The whole process, in-home interviews, free training they provide before you bring home your grey is amazing. I don't know how Deb finds the time, but she is always there if you have any questions or concerns. I wish there were more programs out there like this, as it prepares you for everything and makes the transition for both the owner and grey a wonderful experience.
