MGAP provides each new adopter with a free pre-adoption on-line training course. The course includes audio as well as the video.You can sit down with a cup of tea and go through this at your own pace and view more than one time. You will gain skills and knowledge that will give you the tools and confidence to take you to the next level in dog knowledge and training. Once you have this ability you will be applying it to many different situations for years to come. There is also a section just for the children on canine body language. This is fun for them, simple and they will learn so much valuable information that will last a lifetime.

You will Learn:
-What to expect; and how to deal with all the adjustment issues of your new dog
-How to build the best possible relationship with your new best friend.
-How to avoid separation anxiety and create a happy self confident & well adjusted dog
-Basic manners, heeling on a loose lead, and non confrontational leadership.
-How to achieve positive leadership with your dog for your entire family.
-Setting and enforcing boundaries. Positive doesn't mean permissive.
-Children and the new family member- special training for ages 5-12 years.
-Why punishment doesn't work in training dogs.
-What does a yawn mean; are they tired? Lip lick? Muzzle pucker? Head turn? Does a wagging tail mean a happy, friendly dog?
-How do dogs really think? What do they think about? And how is it different from humans?
-What does a stressed out dog do and look like? How can we help our dogs relieve some of their stress?
-How to recognize fear in many different situations.
-Proper crate training & how to get your grey to love his crate.
-Cat and small dog training.

Our CPR mannequin is a vital educational tool. Our mannequin has working pulse and lungs allowing participants to actually practice CPR, something you can’t do on a live dog or a stuffed dog. Our techniques appeal to auditory, visual and tactical learners. Dogs do not come to class as we need your full attention. A demo dog will be on hand. First Aid Booklet included in Price.

PALM offre une session de pré-adoption à chaque nouveau adopteur (approximativement 3 heures et plus). Vous apprendrez les habiletés et les connaissances qui vous donneront les outils nécessaires et la confiance pour atteindre le prochain niveau d’apprentissage et de formation pour l’entrainement de votre chien. Dès que vous aurez obtenus cette aptitude vous pourrez l’appliquer à diverses situations dans les années à venir.
Veuillez noter, ceci n’est pas une classe pour chiens; mais plutôt un cours pour enseigner aux propriétaires comment comprendre ce que pensent les chiens et de les entraîner efficacement. De plus, vous apprendrez tout ce qu’il y a à savoir sur les lévriers de courses retraités et vous aurez un aperçu à quoi vous attendre en ce qui concerne l’ajustement de votre animal domestique dans votre foyer. Suite à la formation, vous comprendrez de quelle façon les lévriers varient des autres races et vous aurez des trucs pour que la transition soit aussi simple et facile que possible pour le chien et votre famille. Plusieurs membres du PALM ont suivis le cours à plusieurs reprises, (gratuitement) puisqu’il est si important. Pour les gens qui ne sont pas membres du PALM, les frais pour ce cours sont de 150.00$. Vous allez apprendre comment communiquer avec votre chien et comment développer une relation enrichissante avec votre nouveau meilleur ami. Par exemple, croyez-vous que les chiens ressentent la culpabilité? Font-ils des choses par rancune? Que signifie le bâillement; sont-ils fatigués? Que signifie le lèchement de lèvre? Les rides de museau? Tourner la tête? Lorsqu’il remue la queue, est-ce que ça signifie qu’il est un chien joyeux et amical? De quelle façon pense réellement les chiens? À quoi pensent-ils?
