~ Long May You Run ~
A Tribute to our Greyhounds
For the special place they have made in our hearts
"What we have once enjoyed, we can never lose. All that we loved deeply becomes part of us.
~ Helen Keller
"It is not just that animals make the world more scenic or picturesque. The lives of animals are woven into our very being - closer than our own breathing - and our soul will suffer when they are gone."
~Gary Kowalski, Author of The Souls of Animals
~Gary Kowalski, Author of The Souls of Animals
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Author unknown

Abby (Rico’s Spruce) - A donation was made to MGAP in Abby's name
December 4, 2012 – December 1, 2019

Our Abby was a precious member of our pack who left us far too soon. She was only 7 years old. We have never had a greyhound that was so waggy. Her tail was always going, thumping the wall as she crept down the hall - crept because she didn’t like smooth floors. She was very vocal with a wide range of sounds from warbles to roos to let us know she wanted something.
We will miss her terribly. Good girl Abby.

Peter (MPS Peter)April 1, 2006 – September 9, 2015
May 25, 2001 – August 14, 2008

Our beloved Peter passed away after a battle with an undetermined illness affecting his breathing. A veteran of 100 races over 3 seasons, he won, placed or showed in 33 of them. Peter was a wonderful, kind and loving companion who is sorely missed by his adoptive parents. His quiet, gentle manner and good looks made him everyone’s friend. He got hugs and kisses from friends and strangers alike.
You are forever in our hearts. Good boy Peter.

May 10 2000- May 30 2008

Chance was adopted into our fur family and became a Canadian citizen on July 1 2004. Seeing him for the first time, he didn't have all those pretty markings that some greys have but it didn't take long for him to become "Our Handsome Boy". We argued all the way home on his name, my husband saying that we'd have one before we hit our driveway. "Chance" seemed to appropriate, as in "second Chance". He was perfect. So laid back and worrying about nothing except when he'd get his next walk. He was retired now and enjoying it to the max. We adopted another grey less than a year later as he was such an easy dog. His time with us was to be short lived. In May 2008 just after turning 8, he started to get ill and within 10 days was gone. We only had his company just short of 4 years. He was a trooper till the end. Cancer was his enemy but we never guessed that anything was wrong until those last days. He gave us the best 4 years he could. He was a grey't MGAP ambassador, attending Meet and Greets and going to many in home visits to interview for prospective grey homes. We miss him grey'tly everyday. Our Handsome Boy...forever in our hearts.

Blue Berry (Blue, Berry, Booboo, Boo, Booie) A donation to MGAP was made in Blueberry's name
July 24, 1999 – January 16, 2009

Blueberry came to MGAP in July of 2004 with a broken toe and unsure of everything. She raced until she was 5 years old, many at the Grade A Level. We called her our little wild beast when she arrived but she quickly settled in and adjusted into the retired life. She was very smart and learned quickly and was a delight to train. She loved to cuddle and would lay her head in your lap to get a good, long neck scratch. She was like a puppy and very playful right up until the end. She participated in many MGAP events over the years such as parades, meets and fundraisers. She was very beautiful and such a sweet ambassador for our cause. She was struck down by the horrible and dreaded bone cancer. She will be dearly missed by all of us. There is a vacant place she left in our hearts that can never be filled but we will cherish her memories forever.

Joe (Aljo Battleaxe)
February 11, 2001- May 26, 2009

Our dear sweet Joe came into our lives in May of 2003 a frightened but gentle spirit. We had to earn his love and trust but through that we learned the true meaning of unconditional love. We loved him truly and deeply for the 6 years he was with us; he was our wild child. He welcomed his new human sister into our home 2 years ago and protected her like she belonged to him; such a sweet, loving boy. He went to Rainbow Bridge on May 26th, 2009, a victim of cancer, and left us all (human and fur family) with a deep hole in our hearts. We love you Joe for everything you taught us and for all the love you shared with us over your too short life. You were a true blessing and we'll never forget you. Denise, Peter, Keely and Kaz
Ramses (Zumwhat)
July 22, 1999-June 3, 2009

My Ramses came to me on June 18, 2006 as an emergency foster. He had many issues which with a little bit of pushing and shoving we managed to work out together. In September of the same year I determined he was not going any were and was staying right by my side. Ramses was not a very good racer; at 23 races he was retired. He much preferred a nice lazy day in the sun lavishing as much attention as he could possibly get. He loved long walks in the park, chasing other greys, and diving head first into the water on a warm summer's day. He was a very large participant in mgap events, doing parades, interviews, meet and greets and fundraisers, happily pulling many hrs to help the cause. He was taken away from me on June 3 2009 due to health issues. He made every day I had with him very special, the time may have been short lived but I feel blessed to have had the time. He is very sorely missed, and will never be forgotten. Run free and strong daddies boy….. Ashley Firlotte

May 1 1999 - January 11 2010

We lost our precious Nikki to bone cancer. Nikki was our first Greyhound as many of you know and without Nikki there wouldn't be an MGAP - so I think we all owed a lot to her. She did all the meets and the interviews in the beginning. Our children were only 5 and nearly 7 years old when we adopted Nikki so they have had her most of their lives. She taught me a lot about fear issues and how to build trust - lessons I will never forget - thank you Nikki for everything!! Run pain free with Booboo and Tasha - Blue will look after you…..till me meet again. ...

November 9, 2002 - January 20, 2010

Our little Princess, our precious girl Maggie, has gone to join her pal Peter. She passed away suddenly at home of an apparent heart attack – just fell to the floor and was gone in seconds. We are grateful that she didn’t suffer. She was a quiet, gentle little girl with a delicate yet regal bearing - loving at times and aloof at others with a streak of independence. She could look at you with her big brown eyes and melt your heart so that you could forgive her for anything. She was a great hunter – always on the lookout for a squirrel or chipmunk – and a dedicated digger. She loved to excavate a nest in the cool soil to escape the summer’s heat. Everybody loved her but none as much as her adoptive parents.

Asher (Asheroo - Race Name -kelsos Bitter) A donation to MGAP was made in Asher's name
Mar. 22, 2001 - Feb. 02, 2010

Our big dog Asher had to leave us, he was diagnosed with bone cancer in January. Our house is not the same without him in it. We love Asher so much and will miss all the sweet things he did. One of the funniest was when he would lay on his bed across the room from us, stare at us and then snap at the air and kick his legs in a playful way as if to say "if I wasn't so comfortable I'd come over there and play with you". Asher was our only "baby" until our daughter arrived three years ago. After some adjustment Asher and Amelia became best friends. She was so proud of her big dog "Asheroo". He especially loved to dance in the living room with us, play hide and seek and crawl into her Dora tent. We will never stop loving you and will never forget you Asher. Run like the wind big dog!

Colby (COLD B Hi Ground)
April 1 2004 - May 26 2010

Colby was our first greyhound and he stole our hearts from the very first day we brought him home. We affectionately referred to him as our big goofball. He was so loving and smart, he was the first to greet everyone at the door. We tragically lost him to a brief illness after only two years of retirement. We know you are running free and loving every minute of it.Our entire family is better for having had such a great dog. We miss you and love you Colby-dog.

August 30, 2003 - June 16, 2010

It's safe to say that Colby chose us. In October of 2006, he was an on the spot adoption on Load Day. We had no intent to add a 4th hound, but Colby stuck close to Neal that day, & made it clear that his mind had been made up. We were the family for him. From that point on, he was the glue that kept our pack together. Colby was always happy. Our playful love-bug. His tail constantly wagged. Mornings were his thing, & he felt that it was a mortal sin to sleep in 2 minutes passed dawn. The official greyhound alarm clock of the family. We would always wake up to him chasing a ball or playing with a squeaky. No speck of the day was wasted by him. I truly believe that he loved life & being part of our pack. Whether its a memory of him tunneling through the snow in the backyard, playing fetch, chastising us for getting up late, or snuggling on the couch, we will always remember our "Colblerone" with a smile on our faces :) Colby is loved & missed by Erin, Neal, & hounds Sophie, Cruce, & Tutu.
Taj (Racing name Ifield)
July 25 2006-May 10 2010

On September 5th, 2009 will be a day I remember always - that's when I met Taj for the very first time. I remember being very nervous, it was my first greyhound, my first adult dog adoption, and I wasn't sure what would happen; but was prepared for anything. Little did I know as soon as I was handed his leash it was love at first sight, I was no longer nervous and I knew he was the furry friend for me. Taj was a mellow fellow, very quiet, laid back and loved his naps. I remember his first snow fall here - he did a "snow dance" all over the place. I thought he would hate the snow but NO, he loved it, that's probably the one thing we didn't share! Taj left me somewhat suddenly from liver failure in May 2010. Although his retirement was short, I know he enjoyed it and I wouldn't give back a minute of the time I had with him. You were the best dog, companion and company Taj, momma misses you everyday. January 13 2001 August 13 2010

Ben came up from the States in 2004 at 3 year old - and for Charles and Ben - it was love at first sight on the drive up. His call name at the track was "Woody" but when we decided he had found his forever home with our family, we just thought the name didn't quite suit him. He was named after Deb's Dad (Ralph Benjamin, who also passed in this year). Everyone who met Ben loved him, he was just that sort of a guy. He was a wise and gentle soul who will be dearly and forever missed. He bravely battled a serious illness for a few months. He went from 93lbs in February to 73 lbs in August. But will always be remembered as the strong gentle giant that he was. "But shall the angels call for him, Much sooner than we've planned, We'll brave the bitter grief that comes, And try to understand." The Levasseurs - Deb, Charles, Justin & Tera
Blitzen (AKA Shannon Art) A donation to MGAP was made in Blitzen's name.
1998-2010

Blitzen joined our family in 2002 and he had a way of making us laugh everyday! He LOVED everyone and even won over many people who didn't like dogs. He was so easy going and so gentle and such a great "brother" to Jewel who came to us in 2003. He was a great ambassador for MGAP by his participation in Meet and Greets, fundraisers ,picnics, TV, In home interviews and more… He loved his walks, carrying around his toys and chewing on tartar busters. He had such an expressive face, you knew what he was thinking. Blitzen died suddenly on Wednesday evening, September 8th at 8:15pm of heart failure. He was 11 years old. The name Blitzen means "lightning " in German! GO FOR THE GOLD Blitzen …Run like lightning and be at Peace! You will live forever in our hearts!

Hobbes (Sheroot)
Nov. 30 2004 - Nov. 13 2010

Hobbes was introduced to our family in October 2007. He became apart of our family instantly with his big brown eyes and the wonderful hugs he gave. He was such a leaner! Hobbes love to go for long walks even though he was pretty tired at the end of them! With his striking features and Mohawk on the back of his neck, he once had a little boy call him a werewolf! We couldn't of asked for a more well mannered boy around our new baby girl Isabelle. They got along like two pees in a pod. Hobbes gave Isabelle a wet nose kiss every morning while she was sitting in her highchair. Hobbes became ill with a rare form of skin cancer in September 2010. Unfortunately for him and for us, there was no treatment or surgery that was going to help him. He passed on November 13, 2010. Although his time with us was very short lived, it was amazing and he taught us so much about him, and his breed. He helped me conduct in-home interviews, participated in Meet & Greets, and the Santa Claus Parades. Hobbes, I know we are far apart, but you will always be in our hearts. We love you always and forever, Rest in peace buddy. Danielle, Dave, & Isabelle Wells.
Greyce (Imagretl)
September 28, 2002 - November 17, 2010

October 15, 2006 was one of the most exciting days I can remember, that's the day I met my sweet girl Greyce. I went to Moncton not knowing what to expect and when I saw her it was love at first sight. She was the most beautiful dark brindle girl and her fur was so soft, just like a cozy sweater. She was so good right from the first night. So gentle and loved to be petted. She quickly adapted to her retirement after her 54 race career ended. Greyce loved to go with me on many of our in home interviews all over PEI and we hardly ever missed a chance to be at a Meet and Greet. She really knew how to work a crowd and everyone fell in love with her. She was a grey't MGAP ambassador. In August of this year she was diagnosed with kidney disease, after many trips to the vet and a lot of medication she finally gave up her fight. She will be sorely missed by her adoptive family and especially her grey't brother "Will". You will be forever in our hearts and thoughts, Greyce Girl. "Run Free Momma's Beautiful Girl!" Nancy, Arthur and "Will" Flynn
Jada (BB's Rumba)A donation to MGAP was made in Jada's name
January 2, 2000 - December 21 2010

Jada was the most loving and best dog anyone could ever ask for….We had Jada in our lives for close to 9 years and life will not be the same without her…..She was so smart and fun to work with! I trained her through level 3 obedience and she helped me pass my dog training certification. Jades was our official door greeter as she loved everyone who came here for their training, or to pick up dogs etc...she would lap up the attention from all- both human and canine!

Rhazz (Valid Slamo)
August 13 2000 – August 29 2011

Rhazz’s 11th birthday @ the MGAP Picnic
There is so much that we can say about the memories that our sweet boy, Rhazz, gave us we could go on and on for page after page. Rhazz picked us for his forever home on one sunny Saturday morning in May of 2009. He quickly nuzzled his way into our hearts. We believe that Rhazz had a “paw” in changing people’s lives. Rhazz loved to do Meet & Greats and fundraisers. His gentle, sweet nature made people fall in love with him. After each meet and great we would tell him how many Greys he saved that day. Rhazz loved his walks and drives in the car. No matter what the weather; sunny, rainy or even a blinding snowstorm when 7:30 came around he would be standing, dancing by the back door giving us a little bark saying “ come on, come on its 7:30 time for your walk mama & papa”. Just the mention of the word car and he would get so excited. Dancing, hopping and barking. Rhazz never asked for very much but gave us so much, even in his last moments all he wanted from us was one more rub on his belly and a scratch under his chin. Rhazz is gone now but has a very special place in our hearts. We will never forget your big beautiful eyes, little buck teeth and the way you loved us so much. We love you and miss you Rhazz, you were our best friend ever.

Jewel (AKA Lakalani Southern Cross) came to us as a foster on November 11th, 2003. Her arrival was a special one so it's only fitting that it be on Rememberance Day! We soon fell in love with her and adopted her shortly thereafter.
Jewel participated in many MGAP events over the years, proudly wearing MGAP tag # 001. Jewel and her adopted brother Blitzen (1998-2010) made a grey't pair! She brought us much joy and happiness over the years and it was very hard to say good bye to her. She will always have a piece of our heart!
She loved to play and to run..."So run free our graceful one!" We will never forget you! Judy and Jim Lounder

July 3 2001 -September 11, 2012

Seamus is buried on the farm in his favourite field under a plum tree, with his Floppy Dawg (the stuffie he came with, still his favourite), and his Blue Guy (second fav!). I can't believe we were together for 8 years. He was a wonderful companion and I loved him dearly. Thank you so much for all your support, and for all the work you do with MGAP …. I can't imagine that I won't think about another greyhound at some point in the future, but not really soon. I will, of course, stay involved as much as I can. He was such a joy.

Effie (Farmer Factor) A donation to MGAP was made in Effie's name
May 1 1999 - November 2, 2012

In January, 2008, I applied to MGAP to adopt my second eight year old retired "brood mom". At the time, I had one object in mind - retrieving my adorable Everine who I had lost only a month before. Another girl was soon found and made the trip to New Brunswick to live with me. As her name was Farmer Factor, I decided to keep the double "F" in her name and call her "Effie", a dignified name for an older lady.
As I drove home with Effie, the inevitable thought was "What Have I Done?" If I had hoped to recreate life with my sweet little Everine, I had failed badly. This girl seemed to be a complete opposite. However, as weeks turned into months, Effie and I grew accustomed to each other. Effie worked hard to be nice to the assortment of foster cats streaming through the house as well as my own cats. The compromise was that if a kitten placed even one dainty paw on Effie's bed, Effie was allowed to give one great big "woof", sending kittens flying in all directions. But, she never actually touched the kittens.
Soon, Effie became a veteran of MGAP's meet and greets, Christmas parades, and the pet therapy program at various nursing homes. She patiently learned to accept attention from neighbours, little children, and even kittens. And we started to welcome foster greyhounds to our house. Effie made room for all of them.
And, as the months turned into years, something else became obvious. When I adopted Effie, I hit the jackpot. Her slightly edgy attitude soon turned into a tolerant pleasing personality, making her an excellent companion and helper for our many activities together.
At thirteen years old, Effie reached the end of her second retirement, passing away peacefully on 9 November 2012. Forced to admit that our time together has ended, there is no doubt about how to handle the crisis - I'll do it all again.

Ridge (Kansas Ridge)
January 3 2008 - December 17 2012

Ridge was a very special boy right from day one. When he arrived from the States in January 2010, he was a very sick dog. He leg started to swell on the trip up and by the time he reached NB it was five times its size. We took him straight to the emergency vets that same night. He had a very bad staph infection and after many tests and a hospital stay, he came to our place for a 4 month rehabilitation period. He needed dressing changed nearly every day for 4 months. At that point we never thought we would see this beautiful dog healthy and happy. He was still needing a lot of special care and he had been here for so long we didn't have the heart to uproot him so that is how he became a Levasseur. After gaining over 20 lbs and his wounds healed up, he was strong enough to run and play. We were so happy for him! He turned out to be a very energetic, funny and a very large dog.
We lost him to a brain tumour as he was approaching only 5 years old.
The picture shows him with his favourite person "Charles" at our picnic this past summer. He really enjoyed his final dip of the day at sunset and that is a memory we will always cherish.

Dear Sam,
I remember the day we met you, it was love at first sight, how could we resist those beautiful dark eyes. Though uncertain at first of this new family you were given, it didn’t take too long before your reserved personality started to let loose and you showed us your funny and inquisitive sides. You gave us so many laughter… like those times when you were spinning on yourself, stopping every few seconds to bark at the ceiling, bubbling with excitement or when we were playing hide and seek in the backyard and you were sending the sod flying because you were running so hard. You were so funny. But then in public, you were such a gentleman, whether it was on the street, at a fundraiser, visiting relatives, staying in a hotel or at a campground, in no time people knew your name and were falling in love with you. Maybe it was that habit of yours to try to sniff everybody’s nose while looking up, strait into their eyes with such a gentle expression.
Those were the days… You left us so many happy memories and gave us so much joy, we wish it had continued forever. When you got very sick it was so hard to watch your body withering away but even then, you kept your lovely personality until the very end.
We’ll always miss your welcoming us at the door, your whining at your blanket because it wasn’t folded the way you liked it, the excitement you showed at the prospect of going for a drive in the van or having an apple for a treat, we’ll always miss seeing you, curled on your pillow in the living room. We’ll always miss you but never forget you.

Ripouse (Signet Barry)
December 26 2005-January 14 2013

Ripouse was the sweetest boy we could have hoped for. He was a big bouncy boy who was great with our kids and everyone he met. He was a very active boy that fit perfectly with our family. He just turn 7 on Dec 26. We loved him dearly and he made us happy for the four years we had him with us. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

Apollo (Tugboat) A donation to MGAP was made in Apollo's name
May 2001-February 2013

Our lucky day was July 1st, 2004 when we adopted Apollo. We did not have a preference of male or female when we applied to adopt so we did not know until the day before we were getting a beautiful, big, boy dog. He was described as a big teddy bear and he sure was. When I first saw him, I was speechless. It was love at first sight for sure. He looked like a tiger; such a beautiful coat and sweet face and those gorgeous brown eyes. He settled into retirement so quickly - the second day we had him he was lying on his back with his feet high in the air. He was a little reserved at first, but he showed us a little more of himself everyday and what a joy he was. He cracked us up, loved us unconditionally, gave the best hugs and kisses, and wanted to do whatever we wanted to do day or night. He loved to go in the car, especially “to the country” (Bouctouche) to go for walks and smell the wild animals and trees. Everyone loved Apollo, he was so quiet and gentle and loving. He loved his bear and took it for walks and slept with it from the day we gave it to him about eight years ago. He stopped people and traffic walking down the sidewalk with a large reddish-brown teddy bear hanging out of his mouth. We think he considered it his baby as it was the same colour as he was. Whenever his dad used the telephone, he had to give Apollo a cookie, we have no idea how he came up with that arrangement. Apollo would just jump up when the phone was hung up and stare at him until he got him a cookie. Apollo would have been 12 years old on May 1st, 2013 but sadly it wasn’t to be. He crossed the Rainbow Bridge on February 7th with his mom and dad and bear at his side. Apollo was MGAP’s 35th retired racer.
He will be missed every minute of every day we are left here without him but we are so grateful we had him in our lives for as long as we did.
We will all be together again someday Good Dog.

Feegle (Bacs Denny's Gone)
February 13 2007-March 19 2013

Today we had to say goodbye to our amazing Feegster. The cancer had spread all through his intestines and there was no saving him. It was likely there years before we adopted him, and he never made a fuss about it until the very end. He was a brave and amazing derpasaur who has left a huge hole in our hearts. Though we only got to spend a year and half with him, it was the best year and half. We will mourn him greatly, and in his honour we will adopt again, because there are lots of other greyhounds out there who need homes and love, and Feegle would want us to help them and love them like we loved him. Goodbye my "baby," you have no idea how much we will miss you. ♥

Brave was our first dog and our first greyhound and he didn't take long to capture our hearts. Sadly, he was only with us for a short time. It was very hard to lose him so soon. He was a beautiful dog and loved to run. Oh boy did he love to run! He turned a lot of heads on our walks and he loved his walks. Brave taught us how to enjoy life and take joy in every moment. We will miss him. He will always have a special place in our hearts. Keep running Brave buddy

Dream (M's Dream Catch)
October 27, 2007 - August 13, 2013

We said goodbye to Dream today after having the honour of sharing our lives with him for a brief, yet loving 10 months.
Dream came home with me on a Friday night in November 2012, nervously pacing the back of my car and attempting to assist me with the driving multiple times-I had fallen in love by the time we parked the car. Quickly mastering the ability to climb 3 flights of stairs to reach his new home, he did not take long to figure out that the fridge held treats and that the rattle of his leash and collar meant a trip outside.
Over the next 10 months, he made himself right at home-rug surfing in the morning, getting in the ninth nap of the day before supper (retirement was exhausting!), and trying to chase squirrels when out for our walks. He loved going for drives (he finally realized that humans were far better behind the wheel than he, so he would take to snoozing on the back seat), and would get into a vehicle with anybody if the back door was open and somebody would help him in. His love for cats, naps on the rug, and a good game of tug of war will always hold a place in our hearts.
Love you Dream boy,

Roxy (Lycurita)
Nov 24, 2000 - Aug 31 2013...MGAP Queen 2013

Roxy came into my life on February 28, 2004. The minute I saw her I knew we would be best friends for life. She was shy and unsure of herself but as the days gone by she was growing in every way, we were growing together.... On May 21st 2005 she went outside for her pee and when she ran back inside she slide on the deck steps and her front leg went through the open back of the steps and then it was chaos...both her front leg bones were broken and just hanging by the skin and muscles.... Charles helped me to bring her to the vet where they had to do surgery in Hampton and put a steal plate in her leg........ It took more then 6 months to heal and from that day on she never wanted to go on stairs ever again....understandably..... That day was very hard for her and me but I wanted to take this horrible day and turn it into something positive so this is when I contacted Deb and told her that I wish that she talks to every adopter about this so this NEVER happens again to another dog....I know Deb does her work very well because every adopter knows the name "Roxy"......
Last week was another very hard day for me because Roxy was getting old....... Her back was getting old and her rear leg was paralysing due to her back and was in so much pain......I had a vet come see her at the house and we both agreed that it was time.............................
My heart is broken....a piece of my heart is with Roxy and will always be......she is now in peace and I swear I still hear her bark sometimes.....I wish this never goes away.........Please make sure your stairs are secured with a backing on them.....I want this to be Roxy's legacy.....
Rest in peace my sweety..........Maman and Daddy....... Estelle and Curtis

Kowalla (Kowalla) Also known as The Velociraptor, Wild Horsebeast, and KowallaBear
November 27, 2005 – August 27, 2013

As a married couple with no children; these dogs were are children - they just had 4 legs. Since they were together in life, and left this world so close together I thought their memorial should be together too. To our special boys; there were no moments more wonderful than when you were here with us. We loved you both from day one.
Freeman, our handsome, charming red brindle boy. We always said if all dogs were like him we would have 10. We brought him home right off the track – we didn’t know what we were coming home with in May of 2008 but he was ours the second we looked at him. His gentleman personality, his shiny smooth coat and his excellent manners stole everyone’s hearts. He charmed many people with his antics and his pretzel-like sleeping positions. He had a very special bond with a cat named Pickle, and the two of them were never far from one another. Freeman was very in tune with his humans, and was highly intelligent and memorized so many words and phrases – we had to be careful what we were saying. Anything with the word “hungry” or “eat” in it had to be used lightly especially – these words would send him flying out of a deep sleep! Freeman loved to eat, sleep, roach, and every day at 430PM he put on the “Freeman” show and went absolutely bonkers for about 20 minutes. What I wouldn’t give to see that show one more time.
Kowalla, our silly, overgrown puppy. Kowalla was a return in 2008, and we had already decided we would like another greyhound, so we decided why not? We expected him to be like Freeman... Boy, were we wrong! He was everything opposite, yet still wonderful all the same. Everyone always admired his coloring – beige on one side – brindle on the other. When he acted up, we used to say his “bad” side was showing! We used to call him the velociraptor because he just seemed to be extra tall, extra long, and extra narrow. Kowalla loved to be rubbed, made over and talked to by everyone. He used to love to come over and get an ear rub and he would let out the biggest groans! He also loved coming down to the basement – he would fly down those stairs and hope right up onto his “spot” which was a pile of old blankets and unused pillows and watch all the fish in the reef downstairs. What I wouldn’t give to sit and watch the fish with him again.
We love you both, and miss you so much. Our home and hearts are empty without you here, and we would love nothing more than to bring you back to us. Sometimes, I still think I hear your tags jangling or your feet coming down the hall. Just the other day, while unlocking the door to come inside I could have sworn I heard a gentle “woof” from inside the house. May our house, regardless of where we live – always be your home; and may you forever greet us at the door. We will miss you forever and always.

Sadie (Regal Bloomer) also known as Sades, Sadling
29 July 2006 - September 18, 2013 (A donation to MGAP was made in Sadie's name )

Poor little Sadie was only seven year old and had lymphoma. This is s a very fast moving cancer that effects younger dogs. The meds worked for a while, but stopped working for her this week. She enjoyed her last walk and I cooked her a special big nice juicy skinless boneless chicken breast, which she enjoyed all to herself (but vomited on the way to the vet poor girl) she wasn't able to keep anything down, but it was worth it. She was always the loveliest, kindest, most gentle dog. And the most beautiful. A real gem who will always be sadly missed in our home. Sadie was always my son’s favourite dog and he spoiled her so much it was really cute. Sadie loved everyone, and would stay as long as you wanted her to, to be petted. I am so glad we had our “dog” vacation this past summer at the cottage, Sadie loved that so much. I choose that picture of her on the beach all scruffy and dirty because she was so happy then and that is how I want to remember her. She touched our hearts deeply and I know I will think of her every single day. She was a funny girl who loved to run and play. Sadie also did so many MGAP events and was the prefect girl for my demo dog for the Canine First Aid Course. She was an excellent ambassador for the breed and inspired many others to adopt one of her special kind. There are no others like retired greyhounds and she proved that!

Issa (Racing name Baloo) Issa Bella, Turkey dog, Leathery-Eared hound
June 2005-Sept 2013

I had wanted a grey for a long time. My time came in December of 2009. I went through the adoption process and came out the other end with my little Issa. I was excited, anxious and curious. Little did I know that anxiety would turn to love, pride and laughter. As time went on and Issa was more socialized, she became a real dog. I won't forget the moments when she covered her pee with clods of dirt and grass the first time (which was about 2 years after I adopted her), when she learned to be comfortable with all dogs and when learned how to play and chase. Those were all moments that made her adoption the most rewarding. The most memorable was when she figured out digging and that she loved digging clods of dirt with her nose as much as her paws! Learning to dig is credited to my now husband's dogs. They took over one of the flower gardens this summer, showed her what fun digging was and Issa's digging experiments began. She will always be my cuddly little girl that loved her ears cleaned and rubbed and her nails clipped while she was on her back. Dad misses sharing his toast and peanut butter with her every morning and rubbing her leathery ears and mom misses...everything about her. We are adopting another and I have a feeling Issa sent her to us. Run, sniff, dig and eat lots of peanut butter little one. xo Gwen, Kevin and your pet family
Zelda (Strolee) also know as Little Princess and Baby Girl.
July 3rd 2002 - July 8th 2013

I would like to tell you all about my best friend Zelda. Zelda and I met in St John many years ago where we lived with a lovely family for awhile. Our human friend, Cherri B took good care of us when we needed her, she was our angel.
After a few year we met an awesome foster family, Stephanie and Andrew Learmouth and their dogs, Taboo and Karma. We love them all so very much because they took care of us when we needed them.
In August 2008, Zelda and I(close to 6 years old each) found our forever home. We both got adopted together in the same home. We have been there for a glorious 5 years. We feel very loved by our human Mommy and Daddy. We have met a lot of dogs these past 5 years, some have come for a short visit and others longer. We did a lot of MGAP events together: interviews, meet & greets, picnics. We loved doing these events because we wanted our fellow greyhounds to find a loving home like ours.
My best friend Zelda started being sick 5 months ago. She was a friend, a cuddle buddy, she was there when I was scared, and when I was happy. Zelda left me on July 8 at the age of 11. I will miss her very much until I meet her again beyond the rainbow bridge. I also have a new brother, Raymond(7 year old Greyhound) who is helping me through this difficult time, I am very thankful for him. ~Link~ 10 year old Greyhound

Will (Racing name Remanded)
April 17, 2002 – January 4, 2014

Will was a big 84 lb. boy who won my heart the day I met him. He was a rehome who came to me as a brother for my girl Greyce, hence the name “Will and Greyce” which got a lot of comments from people we met. Will was a very shy grey, he was intimidating in size which made me feel safe when I was staying by myself in the house at night however, if anyone ever came near he wouldn’t make a very good guard dog LOL. He loved to sleep in the sun for hours and no matter what you opened in the kitchen he would wait patiently for his taste, because he knew he would get some. He loved to go for walks with Arthur, all he would have to do is walk into the room and motion with his head toward the door and Will was on his feet ready to go. He had many names: Big Dawg, Flintstone and Sir William were a few and he knew each one meant him. His favourite past-time was lying on his bed chewing a knuckle bone which he would toss in the air and chase across the hardwood floor (which now has lots of marks on it). In November 2013 Will was diagnosed with bone cancer in his front leg, the vet said there was nothing we could do except make him comfortable. Then one day he was outside and came down off a snowbank and the bone fractured, he was in a splint for 4 weeks and the bone would not heal and he was in a lot of pain and would cry out whenever he tried to get up off his bed, we knew the time had come to say good-bye to our beloved friend. We still miss Will and Greyce who are together again lying in the sun waiting for treats. We will never forget either one of you, our beautiful greys.

NYKHA -Nike, Mumma’s Sweetboy
April 16, 2002 to July 20, 2014

If love at first sight happens, it happened on Mother’s Day, 2006 when we made the trip to Moncton to meet the greyhound that Deb had selected for us. He was a tall, handsome white & brindle, with large brown eyes, a prominent overbite and an injured knee. Deb decided to take him to her backyard to stretch his legs where he promptly threw up. Not the best beginning, but wow what a dog! Nykha knew his name so we decided to keep it.
Local media soon picked up on the fact that Nykha was the first greyhound on PEI adopted through MGAP. Newspaper articles, TV and radio interviews, meet and greets followed. For months after people would recognize him and fuss over him. He loved every minute of the attention.
For four years he was a St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog visiting a local nursing home spreading joy to the residents. Full body scratches followed by goodnight kisses became routine. Nykha was truly loved and he loved us back.
Nykha celebrated his 12th birthday in April. This past Sunday afternoon, he took his last run in the backyard – a racer to the end. He is gone, but we are comforted knowing that Greyce, Will and Nykha, aka “The Three Buddies” are reunited and are having a blast!

Teaser (Racing name Safari Tease)
July 23, 2005 - August 12, 2014 (A donation to MGAP was made in Teaser's name)

I welcomed Teaser to my home on Jan 23, 2010. She was a shy little girl. And during cold winter nights when she had to relieve herself, I would ask myself, 'what have I got myself into? It was worth it all and I would do it all over again, and yes, those three in the morning outings were mighty cold! Although she had full range of the house, she never had an accident. She was a wonderful companion, eager to go for a drive, but accepted it, when she had to stay home.
She was loved by all who met her, knew all the store parking lots, where she might get a treat. And the beach, she loved the beach, with me in tow, everything had to be looked at. Loved long walks, long drives even better She certainly wove herself into my life, I am glad of the choice that was made for me. thanks....
Forever missed by George Read, and I suppose, the feral cats....

Rose (Racing name Ditto Red Rose)
May 2, 2004 – Sept 4, 2014 (A donation to MGAP was made in Rose's name)

Our sweet Rose adopted us in May 2006 shortly after her second birthday. Rose was settling into her retirement at an early age. Rose had a few unique personality traits that made us laugh. When she was young she would flash a big toothy Grin! Or wag her long floor length whippy tail. Or show her good-night to everyone in the room by briefly coming to them….. with a quick ‘bye, see you later’.
Rose loved adventures!! Every evening she came to the living room and insisted we go on an adventure after her day long nap……..typically either a car drive or a walk around the block.
Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks! Rose taught us (the old dogs) many simple things about life……. how to Care, Share, Love, Respect and how to be life-long best Buds!! Our match from Deb (MGAP) was a perfect partnership!
Rose loved her beds! She had four beds, at least four blankets, toys and of course her girly ‘bling’ consisting of collars, a necklace, coats and bandanas.
We made up a poem about Rose……… as she often sat up with a greyhound regal pose from her bed.
“There once was a greyhound named Rose!
And she really liked to pose.
And when she is not posing, Rose is dozing,,,
That’s how life goes for Rose.”
Our little Rose became sick this summer. But true to her spirit, she was a fighter to the end. We tried hard to help our Rose, but we all knew when the time had come, when it was near the end ….. and so Sadly…. life had to end. Typical Rose, she went out in style, eating fried chicken for her last meal and strongly standing for her last car ride adventure. Oh…. how we will miss those big auburn eyes and her adventures with us!
We will remember the words of the Rainbow Bridge, until we meet our Rose bud again.

Quincy (Aljo Quincy)
May 6, 2004 - October,28. 2014 ((A donation to MGAP was made in Quincy's name)

Quincy, our beautiful boy, has gone to be with his friends Peter and Maggie. He was such a wonderful fellow – full of life and love. He liked to meet people on his walks and they always stopped to meet him. His favorite activity was barking at anything that moved in the neighborhood.
Before he came to us Quincy had a career of 116 races wining 12 times. The racing left him with a bit of arthritis in his later years but he soldiered on nonetheless.
In August he suffered an apparent stroke and lost interest in food. In spite of our best efforts he declined in weight and health until it was clear that he was no longer getting any enjoyment from life. We decided to help him on his final race to the finish line.
Quincy, you were our best boy and we will always love you.

Mindy (Bolster)
July 31 2003---Nov 6 2014

We lost our beautiful girl early morning of last Thursday. She had not been sick , she died in her sleep No muss , no fuss -- that was our Mindy. Our Vet said heart attack or stroke. She never caused a problem or misbehaved, but she loved to throw her toys in the air in her back yard and always goosed us when we arrived home or grabbed us by the hand. She was retired from racing and had another home before Deb called and asked us to consider another grey back in 2008. We never regretted that decision for a moment, she was so sweet and loving. Daisy Grey (Spoken Fur)
July 10, 2004 – November 28, 2014

Daisy was our first family dog. We welcomed her into our home and hearts in September of 2006. She had lived with a previous family but was returned, so we made a promise to never give up on her. We kept that promise to the very end.
Daisy was a sweet girl who loved people, long naps by the woodstove, snuggles with our kids and homemade blueberry waffles on Sundays. She was a big girl, with an unusual crook in her tail from a racing days incident that made her stand out. She was generally very zen, except when it came time to walk or ride in the car, when she would do her twirling-leaping “Daisy dance”. She loved her longer walks on weekend mornings and was definitely a “Daddy’s girl’.
Daisy was also a patient volunteer at MGAP events, always reaching out to get some attention from a passerby. She famously ran away for 16 hours in April of 2013, and we are grateful for the support of volunteers for helping us find her and getting the word out on Dashing Daisy.
Sadly, she developed an aggressive malignant tumour in her cheek in her final months. She braved surgery and pain treatment, but when her vitality began to diminish we made the difficult decision to say goodbye to our Daisy. We are grateful to Dr. Gerald Goodine and the amazing staff of Douglas Animal Hospital for the care they provided Daisy during her time with us.
Rest in peace, sweet baby dog. We miss you every day. Elaine and family

Hughie (Kolestrul)
May 2 2005- November 27 2014

Hughie was our little prince and the very best dog anyone could hope for. When he first arrived here, just turning two years old he was so high energy and very playful. Over the years he mellowed a lot but was always as sweet as could be. He was kind and gentle to everyone he met. He loved other dogs and was the last of our first pack of greyhounds. He was a perfect ambassador for MGAP and did so many events over the years to help his friends that are at the tracks. When he saw the blue vest appear, he knew it was working time. He was also my trusted demo dog for the Canine First Aid Course for the last few years as well. People loved to see him get wrapped up; he was so funny and very patient.
Hughie will be missed deeply always. There was something so special about this boy... his illness came on extremely suddenly and we are still in shock and disbelief.
You were loved so deeply Hughie....I only wish we could have had more years together.

Gatsby (Teralex)
January 17, 2007- November 28, 2014

Gatsby came into my life in the fall of 2008 and immediately stole my heart; my little hound who was always “Puppy of the Day.” He was such a great partner in life accompanying me on almost any adventure- driving across the country, going camping or lazing at the beach. My little shadow. Always up and ready to greet me at the door, the night Gatsby fell ill was no different. His tail was wagging and his eyes bright, wondering if I might have brought him home a little treat. That night Gatsby had a sudden seizure that set off a series of events that would eventually result with him crossing that rainbow bridge. I miss him so much and coming home is not what it used to be.
Gatsby is missed by all who met him.

Eddye
February 1, 2003-December 17, 2014

My gentle giant Eddye came to me September 2007. He was always a laid back guy, content to relax on his bed unless the words ‘go for a walk’ were mentioned or he got a new squeaky. He always was so happy to meet people and remembered where to stop for treats from his friends along the way. Over the years he participated in many meet and greets, liquor store fundraisers Santa Claus parades, and in home interviews. Eddye was always a great ambassador for all of these, as he loved to meet new people so much. I’ll never forget the time we visited a couple and the gentleman later told me that he wasn’t sure about adopting until he met Eddye. I was so proud of my guy for that. As time went on a deteriorating disk and arthritis were making it more and more difficult for him to get around and we decided it was time to say goodbye. Eddye had such a calm, gentle spirit and was loved so much. I was very lucky to have had him in my life for as long as I did. Thank you MGAP for sending me my best buddy!

Sophia (Rogue Imposter)
April 1, 2006 – September 9, 2015 (A donation to MGAP was made in Sophia's name)

Our precious little “Sophie” has gone to join so many other Greyhounds before her. She was a shy and timid girl with most people but not above putting other dogs in their place – including her brothers Quincy and Rocky. She was very feminine in all things from her delicate walk to preferring to nibble her food rather than bolt it as many Greyhounds do. She loved to ride in the car. The very mention of the word “car” and her ears would go up and soon she would rush to the door and make little cries of excitement. She enjoyed having her head out to take in all the scents as we drove along.
We were blessed to have her in our lives for 6 years. Run free little girl. We love you.

Zeno (Hurcan Pepper)
August 6, 2006–September 15, 2015(A donation to MGAP was made in Zeno's name)

The name Zeno comes from old Greek and means “of Zeus or gift of Zeus”. Zeno you were our final Gift from Rhazz (Rhadamanthus – a son of Zeus) our boy we lost a week before you adopted us. Zeno our shy boy turned 5 years old the day he arrived as our foster, what a gift for him to find his forever home on his birthday and a gift for us to receive such a beautiful hound.
Zeno we will miss your “Snoopy twinkle toe dance” when the snow falls, your play bows and butt wiggles in the cool crisp mornings and your sweet little bark when it was time for breakfast or supper. We miss your rooing when we pull in the driveway and then greeting us at the top of the stairs when we would come in the house but Zeno we know that you are still here. You are the stars in the sky, the rustle in the wind and the smell of spring flowers.
Also Zeno when we see a sparkle in the eyes of our fosters to come, we know that is you.
We love and miss you so much Zeno.
Until we meet again

ACKERS
JUNE 28, 2005-SEPTEMBER 8, 2015

Ackers came to us on his 8th birthday. We had to borrow a car to pick him up at MGAP as ours was in the shop. He was the fuzziest greyhound we had ever seen and it was love at first sight. He hopped into the car amoungst all his things; crate, X-pen, coats, food, toys and a large dog bed. When he settled in, we quickly found that in spite of being very timid, he knew how to walk up steps, "sit", give a paw and "down" so gracefully. He taught our Leihla how to sit and eventually they would both sit for every treat. He loved his stuffies and even played tag with our cat, fitting into our family seamlessly including walking happily on a coupler with Leihla. He wasn't a morning dog and preferred to sleep in and eventually we clued in to his potty schedule. All other things he and Leihla did together. Once she left for the Rainbow Bridge, his appetite declined, and like Leihla, a few months after his 10th birthday he too, lost his battle with cancer. We had him for much too short a time and he will forever be in our hearts.

LEIHLA (PALS ATLANTA)
October 8, 2004 - March 26, 2015
October 8, 2004 - March 26, 2015

Leihla came to us on an icy January morning in 2012. She had a grazed hip and a very sore toe. She had been nursed with tender loving care in her foster home so she needed to have a boot on outside until the toe healed. Thankfully she did not lose the nail as we feared she might. She fitted in perfectly with our cat and was, as her foster-mum called her, the perfect dog. She roo'd to wake us up promptly at 6 a.m., ate breakfast and supper promptly with no fuss and loved her evening walks. She even welcomed Ackers when he arrived a year later, happy to show him the walkies route through the village and along the river bank. Even after she became epileptic, she lived perfectly healthy and happy on her meds for years until finally, 6 months after her 10th birthday she succumbed to cancer. She was our first greyhound who taught us so much more about love than we could ever teach her. She will remain in our hearts forever.

KAI (MUTUALLY DEPENDT) (A DONATION TO MGAP WAS MADE IN Kai'S NAME)
May 5/05~Dec23/15

Our Kai came to us 7.5 years ago after he had just turned 3. He was a rehome who needed someone at the same time we had just lost our first boy Chance to cancer and had a hole in our hearts to fill. No 2 grey's could be anymore different then they were. Kai came into a home with another grey as well as a cat and they were soon to be joined by a third grey, a foster we decided to keep who we named Bailey. I've had the pleasure of dealing with a lot of grey's from fostering to dog sitting. None could be as mischievous and smart as this boy was. He had all the confidence I didn't know could exist in a dog and could always find something that would get him into trouble especially since he was food motivated. We soon adopted a term in our house. "Kai proofing". Sadly Kai became ill in Oct and left us on Dec 23, the first of our group of 3 greys to leave us. Our house is too quiet now. A piece of our hearts left with him. He was a truly amazing boy and frustrating at times but we wouldn't have changed him for the world. Kai guy, we miss you more then we ever realized we could. You lit up the house. You were the energy we needed. You were the smartest greyhound we have had the pleasure of knowing.

Kohl (Audit)
June 1, 2004 - January 29, 2016

We lost Kohl to cancer on January 29th. She would have turned 12 in June. As far as humans know about these things, we think she went peacefully and we were with her to say goodbye. Kohl was a big--68 pounds of muscle--red fawn girl. She was named Kohl after the charred wood ash prevalent in the Middle East for eye makeup. She looked as if she had put on eyeliner: her eyes, colour and heft made her quite a striking greyhound. She could amble down a hallway with a Texan gunslinger gait. People often stopped us on our walks to comment on her. Kohl could be wilful for a grehound, but never overbearing. You could set your watch by Kohl stamping her feet when it was breakfast or suppertime. She loved her walks and her sister another greyhound named Coco. She has left a huge void in our family which is now just us and Coco. We hope she did well in her forever home and that we were good to her.

CLEO (Y Whirlwind) (A DONATION WAS MADE TO mgAP IN cLEOS NAME)
May 14, 2009 - February 26, 2016

November 11, 2011 is a Remembrance Day our family will never forget, as this is the day we adopted our beloved Cleo. She was our first greyhound so we weren't sure how different she would be from our 7 yr old standard poodle, but we soon learned that she loved stuffies and soon claimed all of Paris' toys as her own. Cleo always looked sad but we soon came to understand that her sad eyes were her way of getting everything she wanted. She soon had Daddy wrapped around her little paw, becoming his little princess. She just had to give out her little sigh to tell us that she was ready for a belly rub and would enjoy being petted for hours. She was petted so much in the last 4 years that her fur became so soft it was like velvet. We also believe she could tell time as she would always appear at the same time each day to remind us it was walk time, cheese time, or treat time. Before long, it seemed as though Cleo had been with us forever.
It was early last summer that we started to notice that Cleo had a slight limp. We kept an eye on this but when the limp started to get worse toward the fall, a visit to the vet gave us the dreaded diagnosis of osteosarcoma in her right front leg. She was so very brave for 5 months, never missing any of her routines, nor wanting to be left behind at walk time, but in the last 2 weeks, her limping got much worse and the medication she was taking was maxed out. Last Friday we helped end her pain. Cleo has taken a big piece of our hearts with her and the house seems so quiet without her, even though she barely made a noise when she was here. She will be remembered for her love of people and other dogs, and her love of slow exploring daily walks. She will be missed forever and never forgotten. Sue, Kelly, Tyler and Sean Madden, Paris the poodle, and greyhound brother Jax

August 9th 2012- Feb 12th 2016

I had to say goodbye to the best friend I've ever had long before his time was due. I only adopted my sweet baby boy in April 2015, but we became fast friends, inseparable.. He went everywhere with me to the point I wouldn't even have to warn my friends, they'd simply assume that yes Milo would be coming with me if they'd invited me over. I hated going to work, and couldn't wait to get home to see his goofy face. We went on 3-4hour hikes, as well as camping just me and him. He loved the woods and I'm positive that's where he is now, chasing squirrels. I will forever miss my sweet sweet Milo.

April 1, 2006 - March 8, 2016

Our beloved Rocky has gone to join his sister Sophia and his pal Quincy. He was such a good boy, our best boy ever. He loved to go for car rides especially when we stopped at Tim Horton's where he got enjoy a doughnut with us. He enjoyed meeting people and other dogs on our walks and never had a hint of aggression in him. He liked to have a good Roo whenever we got him going by playing a YouTube video of other Greys Rooing.
His passing has left a huge hole in our heats that will be difficult to fill. Good boy Rocky.

Mackenzie King (Tenthirteen)
Feb 28, 2006 – Jan 22, 2016

How fitting that on February 14th, 2009 – Valentine’s Day, we found out that we would be adopting Tenthirteen and a couple of days later we picked up our handsome boy Mackenzie King. Mack was such a sweet, kind and gentle soul that loved every living creature that he met. He was more than just a dog, he was a teacher and big brother to our other two boys who went to the Rainbow Bridge before him and to over 30 foster Greys that have come through our home since the day he adopted us. He showed them how a Greyhound should live, to only run for fun and how to enjoy the retired life. If a foster was scared, sad or lonely we would often find him not in his bed but lying on the floor next to the crate trying to put them at ease. We believe that his purpose in life was to do this and he did it with such grace and pride.
This boy truly lived in the moment, he loved to just sit out on the deck and look out into nature, smelling the air and you could almost hear him saying “Ah, life is good”. He loved to go for walks, drives and especially a lazy day at the beach, soaking up the sun or playing in the water.
Mackenzie gave us a home filled with so much love and happiness that if we take a page out of his book and learn anything it is how to love, how to relax and how to be kind.
Thank you Mackenzie for changing our lives, you will be missed.
Love you always,
Brian, Carol and Rozie

I had to say good bye to my friend, an amazing dog that has meant so much to me since the day I adopted him. I will never meet another dog like him.
He was an easy dog to be friends with, a bouncy personality and would warm up to anyone in a second (especially if food was involved) He helped many fosters on their way to forever homes, I would often find my fosters copying his every move. He would help them find their confidence and teach them how to live in a home. He was a great ambassador for the breed, attending many events and proved countless people wrong when they said greyhounds can't sit. I will always remember the joy he brought me and to those around me.
Those who say you can't buy happiness, have never paid an adoption fee.

Candi
Nov.1 2006-Aug.1 2016

We said good-bye to our precious girl last week. She was so sweet , and goofy, Dad and her walked every day down to the wharf where she greeted all the cruise bus people and the locals, having her picture taken and lots of pats, she never met a stranger. She loved to sing Happy Birthday and we would always phone friends and family and get her to accompany us in song! She loved to give us kisses and to squeak the dickens out of her stuffies. She loved MiMi our cat and liked to wash her face. The 8 years she was part of our lives went too quickly and we are missing her so much!

BAILEY (Bottled Lightning)
A DONATION WAS MADE TO MGAP IN Bailey'S NAME
Dec 13 2005~Oct 30 2016

Bailey was our 4th greyhound and our 7th foster. He was such a sweetheart that we decided to keep him. He became the third of our trio of greys that we were going to have for the next 8 years. Bailey was definitely a follower and apparently decided it was time to follow his brother Kai to the Rainbow Bridge. We called him a gentle giant. He was our "Love Bug". He had a coat of fur like I have never seen on any other greyhound. He had a love for water and looked forward to his pool every summer on the deck. We will miss our big boy who was uncertain of so many things like the scary tile floors we had to keep a mat on. We're never going to see that helicopter tail do rotations at what seemed like warp speeds again. I can't believe how quickly we ended up having to say good bye to you. It was a shock. Say hi to your brothers for us. I will always remember the video that we watched of you winning a race. It was a beautiful thing to watch you come from last to first, making those long strides and that huge white tip on your tail like a flag. I'm so glad you found your way to us in retirement. We love and miss you Big B ❤️❤️❤️❤️

ELLIE (Sweet Ellie) A donation was made to MGAP in Ellie'e name
May 3 2002~Jan 4 2017

Ellie adopted us the end of May in 2005. She was one of 14 greys I believe it was, who came into the Rothesay area and were at a vets that needed walking etc until they found their forever homes. Almost daily I went to walk a few and bring back washing to help out. Ellie had been known as Sweet Ellie and it fit. I was often asked during home interviews and Meet and Greets if she was up for adoption. We soon found we had a little spit fire. Zoomies were her specialty. Her other claim to fame was her built in food and treat clock. It was amazing. She was originally adopted as a second grey with her brother Chance and they oddly had the tag numbers reversed. Chance was 38 and El was 83. It was meant to be. Unfortunately we lost Chance three years later but adopted her other two brothers shortly after. They would end up being our special pack for many years. Ellie had the honour of helping out with the Liquor Store Fund raiser every year we had it in the Saint John area and even a previous year in Moncton. I suspect she was the only one who ever managed that feat. Ellie came close to celebrating her 15th birthday but her body just grew tired. We said good bye not long after Christmas, quietly at home. She was the first and last of our 3 pack to come and go. We miss her talking to us every day, asking for her cookies but we know she's running zoomies at the Rainbow Bridge with all her brothers. Thank you Sweet Ellie for rattling your crate and making me take notice of you each time I went to help out with the load. It's been such a wonderful experience. Miss your little grey face. We love you forever.
